2 Dead, 5 Injured In Head-On Crash; DUI Suspected: CHP
The crash caused "catastrophic damage," according to a report from the CHP. It happened on Highway 24 in Lamorinda early Sunday.

LAMORINDA, CA — Two people are dead and five others are hospitalized for injuries following a suspected DUI crash in Lamorinda early Sunday. The head-on crash happened in the westbound lanes of Highway 24 between Fish Ranch and Wilder roads, with the first call received at 1:53 a.m.
The wrong-way vehicle was a Saturn Vue. Both the driver and a passenger in that vehicle died. "Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a contributing factor with the driver from the Saturn in this collision," the California Highway Patrol said in a report.
The other vehicle was a black Toyota Camry. "All five males within the Toyota Camry were transported to local area hospitals with major injuries," according to the CHP. The driver was taken by life-flight helicopter from the scene to a Kaiser hospital. He is not suspected of being under the influence.
