Acalanes grad Jessica Winn, currently in Golden Gate Opera's "Madame Butterfly," will also be at event supporting villagers in Afghanistan.

A fundraising concert is taking place Friday in Lafayette to benefit a local nonprofit that provides aid to villagers in Afghanistan.

The concert, scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday at Acalanes High School at 1200 Pleasant Hill Road, will raise money for Trust in Education, a Lafayette-based nonprofit providing educational, economic and health care assistance in Afghanistan villages.

The concert features pianist Tanya Gabrielian, who has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Sydney Opera House, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and the Salle Cortot in Paris, according to organizers. Gabrielian will be joined by Acalanes graduate Jessica Winn, who is currently singing in Golden Gate Opera’s production of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly.”
