
Mark H. McGourty of Orinda has been named chief financial officer for BEAR Data Solutions, a leading global IT solutions provider, by Don W. James Jr., chief executive officer.
A veteran financial executive specializing in operations, infrastructure and capital markets, McGourty will be an integral member of BEAR Data’s executive team. He will be responsible for establishing more far-reaching systems and efficiencies for the company’s next stages of growth.
BEAR Data surpassed $100-million in sales in 2011, doubling in revenue from $65-million to $112-million in the last year. The company also has expanded its worldwide footprint, including in the Pacific Rim.

“BEAR Data has been on a strong growth trajectory,” said James. “We are looking to Mark, who is well regarded for his operational expertise, to help us broaden our service offering to our customers as a complete solution center, encompassing hardware, professional and managed services, and software development, in addition to other technologies. His financial acumen will help us realize the greatest possible ROI.”
McGourty brings over 25 years experience to BEAR Data, with extensive expertise with start-ups and in cloud computing. Most recently, he served as chief executive officer and chief financial officer with Eightfold Logic, an early-stage Software as a Service (SaaS) provider of inbound marketing applications.

Previously, McGourty was an advisor to and chief financial officer for The DealMap, an aggregator of daily deal data that provided select deal data based on geographical location. The company was sold to Google in July 2011.
Earlier, McGourty served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer for Sports Retail Networks, an advanced Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) retail advertising and marketing communications platform. He played a key role in a corporate merger.
McGourty also served in financial leadership roles with BayHill Partners LLC, Atherton Capital Inc., Brokers Acceptance Corp., First California Mortgage Co., and The Associates. He began his career at Ernst & Young.
He received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley. McGourty and his wife, Sally, live in Orinda, Calif., with their three college-age sons.
