Open Registration for the Lamorinda Soccer Club’s Youth Fall Open Soccer Program

Open registration for the Lamorinda Soccer Club (LMSC) Fall Development Soccer Program (DPO) continues until May 23, 2011.  Open to all boys and girls of all skill levels born between August 1, 1999 and July 31, 2006, this program is ideal for players looking to take their soccer game to an intermediate level (in-between recreational and premiere competitive program levels).

The goals of the DPO are

  • To keep youth players in the sport of soccer for the long-term
  • To develop competent soccer players (through skill acquisition by LMSC training) who enjoy playing the sport and to learn life skills from the sport
  • To prepare those players who wish - the opportunity to move into and try the LMSC premier-competitive level program

The fall season runs from mid-August through early November.  Players practice one to two times a week and play one league game each weekend.

Program approach

Players are trained by LMSC coaches and players in a fun and encouraging environment emphasizing player development.  DPO players are given plenty of freedom to learn through experimenting, or by trial and error. During this phase, the player will develop his/her own individual relationship with the ball (personal style of play) and start to develop insights in his/her own individual play and how effective he/she can be in achieving the game's various objectives.

Parent volunteer coaches, trained by LMSC, continue player development during weekend games.  League game formats are designed to challenge players and exercise skills learned during weekday practices.  This is achieved by playing games in a 3 versus 3 format (U6-U7 players), 4 versus 4 format (U8 players), 8 versus 8 format (U9-U11) and a 11 versus 11 format (U12).

Program Costs

The provisional costs of the program are as follows:

  • U6-U7: $300
  • U8:  $400
  • U9-U12: $450

Estimated cost per player covers all training, field, and program administrative costs.
