Hang On To Your Helmet, Rocket Man -- This Drink Is the Right Stuff!

Faster than the speed of sound, it's a Chuck Jager!

There’s an unwritten rule floating around in the ether of booze-related blogs that if a drink is named after one of your personal heroes you have to write about it.  So pursuant to that rule, it’s time for a Chuck Jager!

The real Chuck Yeager is, of course, the man who in 1947 piloted the experimental Bell X-1 to become the first to break the sound barrier.  I’ve never met the man, but I’m willing to bet that he enjoyed the occasional cocktail and might even be a Jagermeister fan – maybe.  Still, his namesake cocktail is a very enjoyable drink and a great way to put Jagermeister to use in non-shot form.  For those more familiar with the famous pilot than the drink, Jagermeister is an herbal liqueur that has a strong black licorice flavor.  Jager is most often consumed in shot form or in a horrific mixture with an energy drink, which has given it a bit of a wild-night-out rap.  Granted, the quirky flavor isn’t for everyone, but when paired properly it does play well with other ingredients.

Fill an 8-10 oz. glass about half full with ice.  Add an ounce of Jagermeister and then 6 ounces of Pineapple Juice.  That’s where the traditional Chuck Jager ends, but I like to add a dash of Grenadine.  Garnish with a cherry or two and you’re ready to break the sound barrier!  Don’t forget to give me a “like” on Facebook and check out more recipes at www.30-SecondBartender.com!
