The Cape Cod Is a Berry-Good Drink!

You really can't go wrong with the Cape Cod -- it's full of Vitamin C, anti-oxidants, and it promotes urinary tract health, which is always nice.

A good cocktail, like good food, a good book, or a clandestine, extraordinary-rendition program, has the ability to transport you places. When I drink a good Mai Tai, I’m whisked away to the twelfth-floor balcony of the Sheraton overlooking Waikiki Beach. When I have a Mojito in my hand, I’m suddenly standing on Duval Street in Key West looking for my next bowl of conch chowder. And when I mix up a Cape Cod… well, it’s actually named for a place. So, that makes it easier to be transported to a bucolic New England fishing village where people smile and wave at strangers and speak with funny accents. Of course, I’ve never been to Cape Cod, or even Massachusetts, but it looks very inviting in my mind.

I’m a big fan of the Cape Cod for two reasons. First, it’s made with two of my favorite liquids on Earth: Vodka and cranberry juice. Second, it’s one of those very easy, very tasty cocktails that anyone can make and just about everyone enjoys.  Some people prefer pimping the Cape Cod up to a Cosmopolitan by adding Triple Sec and lime juice, but I like the pleasant pucker I get from straight cranberry.                                 * 2 oz. Vodka  * 6 oz. Cranberry Juice

This is pretty much a Screwdriver, but with cranberry juice in place of OJ.  Drop some ice into an 8 oz. glass a Collins or Highball. Pour in the Vodka and cranberry juice.  You can measure the cranberry juice if you want or just pour in the Vodka first then top off with juice for a short cut. Adding the juice last also allows you to vary the strength of the drink to taste.  Don’t forget to give me a “like” on Facebook and check out more recipes at www.30-SecondBartender.com!
