Residents are asked to check their surveillance systems for images of the suspects or their vehicle.

LAMORINDA, CA — Burglars damaged both the front and back doors of a Lafayette home on Wednesday, while making off with electronics including a big screen TV and a laptop computer.

The burglary happened in the 1300 Block of Reliez Valley Road. The homeowner called police at 2:29 p.m. to report that they had just returned home to find the front door damaged. The caller stayed outside, in case the criminals were still inside.

Lafayette Police Officers searched the home and found no one inside. LPD CSI personnel responded to the home and examined the scene. According to police, "It appears the suspect(s) attempted to enter the home by kicking in the front door. The door appeared to have been struck several times, but was not breached by the suspect(s). The suspect(s) then appear to have moved into the rear yard of the home where a large rock was thrown through the rear glass door."

Earlier, a driver called to report that a vehicle had stopped to let out a passenger, who appeared to be prowling the homes in the area. LPD Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate the vehicle or the pedestrian.

A canvass of the neighborhood located a neighbor who had a security camera that showed the street in front of the home. The vehicle identified by the motorist was located and appears to have passed the home several times prior to officers being called to the neighborhood.
