LAMORINDA, CA — The Moraga-Orinda Fire District, CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit, and the East Bay Municipal Utility District are expected to complete a 12-acre prescribed burn Friday and Saturday. The project is in a remote area less than a mile northwest of Briones Dam and is part of the North Orinda Shaded Fuel Break.

The prescribed burns are planned for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The project is two-fold. First, it will reduce heavy fuels in the area and promote regeneration of native oaks. And second, it will provide a training opportunity as the firefighters control the spread of the fire.
