Afghanistan: What Now?

AFGHANISTAN. WHAT NOW?

Three speakers share how we can make a difference and assess Afghanistan’s future.

Trust in Education (TIE) is a Lafayette-based grassroots, nonprofit, people-to-people organization that has been providing educational, economic and healthcare assistance to villages in Afghanistan for more than eight years.

Zohra Azis, an Afghan-American who convinced TIE to raise the funds necessary to build a school for girls in her Afghan village, Farza.

Budd and Nabi have made numerous trips to Afghanistan and have compelling stories to share about what they have observed and the challenges TIE encounters.  Zohra recently returned from Farza, having spent more than two months overseeing the construction of the school.

As we withdraw our military forces from Afghanistan, everyone is asking, "What will happen to Afghanistan?" Budd, Nabi and Zohra feel strongly that, whatever happens militarily, we should help Afghans reconstruct their lives and country. TIE has been assisting Afghan families and villages for eight years, primarily through education programs.  Hope for Afghanistan comes in small steps, but Budd, Nabi and Zohra have seen the difference that Americans can make. Their portrayal of Afghanistan will be unlike any you have read, heard or seen.
