Come kick off the New Year right with a free concert at the Moraga Library, featuring local sensation, Houston Jones. This band has been garnering critical raves for their newest cd release, Queen of Yesterday, as well as for their fantastic stage shows. This high-energy quintet of acoustic musicians from the San Francisco Bay area play an original blend of folk, blues, bluegrass and gospel. Their name comes from members Glenn “Houston” Pomianek (lead guitar) and Travis Jones (lead vocals, guitar) who are joined by Chris Kee (acoustic bass), Peter Tucker (drums) and Wayne “Chojo” Jacques (fiddle, mandolin). This band incorporates many different influences and make it seem so easy. Their stand-out high quality of songwriting, with great hooks, melodies and compelling lyrics often have their audiences up and dancing, or at least tapping their toes. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see a band of this caliber in Moraga. This concert is FREE and open to the public, but preregistration is required. Visit the calendar of events at www.ccclib.org to preregister or call the Moraga Library at 925-376-6852. This concert is sponsored and paid for by the Friends of the Moraga Library. CDs will be for sale after the show.
