Mental Illness, Stigma and Families

The stigma around mental illness can be as disabling as the disease, alienating people from friends and relatives and prompting discrimination. Dr. Stephen Hinshaw, UC Berkeley professor of psychology, will discuss the reasons for stigma, its effects and how to combat it. He is the author of "The Mark of Shame; Stigma of Mental Illness and an Agenda for Change."
