Fentons Deal a Meltdown? Naw, Lafayette Still In the Running for Creamery Location
News that the venerable Fentons Creamery was considering setting up shop at the equally venerable Lafayette Park Theatre got local ice cream fanciers talking. Some folks say the deal died a quiet death but insiders say things are positive -- and on track.

Some Lafayette residents seem to think a sweet deal to bring the Oakland-based Fentons Creamery folks to Lafayette has melted away before their eyes.
Comments posted to Lamorinda Patch apparently set Park Theatre property manager Greg Woehrle's phone ringing Wednesday. He is at the forefront of talks between the creamery and the City of Lafayette.
"I don't know where that came from," Woehrle said, referring to the Patch comments intimating the deal was in meltdown. "Everything is positive and on track."

Back in July, Woehrle confirmed that representatives of the landmark creamery had expressed interest in making the webby but beloved old moviehouse their newest location -- with Lafayette considered ahead of Orinda, Walnut Creek, Alamo and Danville.
City officials came out early to affirm their interest in such a sweet deal but quickly admitted the devil in the details was finding enough parking spots to accomodate the amount of traffic expected to descend on such a business. But ice cream addicts needn't worry, Woehrle said.
