Jogger Critically Injured In Lamorinda Area Hit-And-Run

LAMORINDA, CA — A jogger was hit by a motorcycle near Orinda Wednesday evening, leaving the man with life-threatening injuries. The California Highway Patrol is asking for help finding the motorcyclist, who didn't even slow down after hitting the victim, according to witnesses.

The crash occurred at about 6:35 p.m. on Wildcat Canyon Road, just west of Inspiration Point, CHP officials said.

When CHP officers arrived, the motorcyclist had fled the scene.

The jogger, described as a 39-year-old Piedmont man, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

After an investigation, CHP detectives determined the motorcyclist was speeding and went over the solid double yellow lines to pass traffic, as they were heading westbound on Wildcat Canyon Road, just before striking the jogger.

According to witnesses, the impact caused the jogger to fall to the ground. The motorcyclist, however, did not appear to slow down and continued heading west, toward Berkeley, CHP officials said.

The motorcyclist was described as wearing a yellow helmet and black jacket. Witnesses were unable to describe the motorcycle.
