But before we jump into Northern California's top stories: Temperatures across the Bay Area are expected to stay near or below normal this week, with cloud cover likely keeping any significant warmup in check, according to the National Weather Service.

Inland areas could warm slightly through Wednesday, but a mix of high clouds and the marine layer may limit daytime heat. Temperatures will likely fluctuate only modestly from day to day, while nights could stay relatively mild under the cloud cover.

A trough is expected to move closer to the coast later in the week, reinforcing the cooler pattern into the weekend. Despite an increase in moisture Thursday and Friday, predominantly dry conditions are expected to continue across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

In other news, a registered sex offender was arrested Friday night after forcing his way into a NorCal home and preventing the residents from leaving, according to police. Authorities say he was spotted prowling at another nearby home earlier that night.
