Lafayette City Council To Walk Down the Boulevard
Meeting at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) to convene at the library, and then proceed down Mount Diablo Boulevard to see the proposed site of a landscaped median.

The Lafayette City Council is having a mobile meeting that has nothing to do with a mobile app.
The council's special meeting will convene at Community Hall at the Library at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday). Shortly thereafter, participants will march down Mount Diablo Boulevard from First Street to Brown Avenue to visualize improvements planned for that stretch of Mount Diablo — pedestrian/bike and streetscape improvements, including the installation of medians to separate eastbound and westbound traffic.
The concept of medians and improvements on Mount Diablo date to a master plan approved by the council a quarter-century ago, according to a report by the city's engineering services manager, Tony Coe (the report is attached to this article). The city was awarded a grant of $540,000 toward the project in early 2012.

Originally, the medians were to be combined with but the latter was nixed after a contentious meeting in October 2012.
City staff on April 19 submitted a $2 million application for a OneBayArea grant for the median project.
