BAY AREA — BART is once again experiencing major delays because of an equipment problem in San Francisco. This is separate from an earlier issue when BART advised riders, "Please seek other means of transportation through San Francisco."
The latest problem was at Civic Center. Trains from the East Bay were rolling through the station without stopping.
The earlier problem was smoldering debris on the tracks at 24th Street. The fire was put out and tracks have been inspected, allowing trains to move through there once again. All service between Montgomery Street and Balboa Park stopped for a time but has now resumed.
