Man Killed In Crash Outside Lafayette School

A child was also hit but is expected to survive.

LAMORINDA, CA — A man died after he was hit by a vehicle as he crossed the street in front of a middle school Wednesday afternoon in Lafayette, police said.

The vehicle also struck a child, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said.

Police responded to a 2:56 p.m. report of a man trapped under a vehicle in front of Stanley Middle School at 3455 School Street. People nearby pulled him from under the vehicle and emergency responders administered CPR.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released the name of the victim or the driver of the vehicle that hit the man and child. Police said the driver is cooperative and has been interviewed.
