Moraga's Oktoberfest ist Wunderbar.
Hacienda de las Flores hosts its Third Annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser. Participants say "Prosit!"
Since 2009, Hacienda De las Flores in Moraga has been hosting Oktoberfest, a time honored German tradition that originated in Munich, Germany. On Sunday, hundreds came out to enjoy a little slice of the German tradition, some even decked out in full German lederhosen. Those who attended were also helping the Hacienda as all proceeds go to the improvement and upkeep of the property.
Lamorindans were treated to traditional Bavarian music courtesy of Big Lou's Dance Party and tradition Bavarian dancing courtesy of BHTV Golden Gate. And what would Oktoberfest be without traditional German bratwurst, pretzels and a beer or two?
Oktoberfest at the Hacienda kept the kids busy with face painting, bouncy castles and a pumpkin painting contest coordinated by Moraga Girl Scout Troop 30072. Mayor Karen Mendonca, Town Council Member Howard Harpham and Hacienda Foundation member Graig Crossi judged the contest in multiple categories including most scary and prettiest.

As the festivities wound down, event DJ Ryan Oettinger called out the raffle ticket winners and the band swung into one last set and a chicken dance contest which Mayor Mendonca judged and eventually got caught up in herself. By then all the bratwurst were eaten, the kegs were tapped and rolled away, and it was time to say “Gute Nacht” until next year.
