Orinda Restaurants Raise Money To Feed Health Care Workers
Several Orinda restaurants are teaming up for a joint fundraiser to raise money to feed health care workers at John Muir Hospital.
ORINDA, CA — A dozen restaurants from across Orinda are teaming up to try and make hot meals for doctors, nurses and other health care workers at John Muir Hospital.
The coalition of restaurants has posted this fundraiser on gofundme.com explaining their mission: ask for donations from the community, then use the money they raise to cook up to 600 meals a day to feed the hospital. The fundraisers say the hospital will tell them how many people are staffed each day, and they'll tailor the meals to meet the need. They say this plan will help feed hungry health care workers and help restaurants stay afloat during these uncertain times.
Organizers say average meal costs about $20 for dinners, $15 for lunch and $10 for breakfast. Since launching the fundraiser last Friday, they've already managed to raise over $16,000 and are closing in on their initial $20,000 dollar goal. They've already delivered their first two meals on Wednesday and Friday this week.
