Police Arrest Man, Juvenile After Stolen Vehicle Chase In Lamorinda
The incident began Sunday night in Moraga.

Police arrested a man and juvenile in Lafayette Sunday after the two gave police a chase in a stolen vehicle, police said today.
Moraga police received a report at about 8:20 p.m. of two people loitering near a car and garages in Moraga on Miramonte Drive, according to police. Police said officers responded and saw the two driving away in a black Acura.
Police learned that the Acura was stolen from Concord, police said. Officers followed the car into Lafayette and asked for assistance from Lafayette police and the Contra Costa County Sheriffās Department, police said.

Police said the Acura sped up on St. Maryās Road near South Lucile Lane and officers attempted to stop the car, but the suspects did not yield. Police said the chase continued to St. Maryās Road and Moraga Road when the Acura took city streets and struck another vehicle at the intersection of Topper Lane and St. Maryās Road.
The engine of the Acura caught on fire and police cut a seatbelt off one suspect and a shoe off the other to free them from the car, police said.

A father and son were in the other vehicle, police said. Paramedics took the son to John Muir Medical Center for minor injuries, according to police. Police said they arrested 19-year-old Concord resident Jose Zacarias and a 16-year-old male for offenses including vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, evading police and probation violations.
Zacarias is on probation for vehicle theft, burglary, carrying a concealed dagger and receiving stolen property, according to police.
Paramedics took Zacarias and the juvenile to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez to be treated for minor injuries. Medical personnel are still evaluating the suspectsā injuries this morning, Moraga police Sgt. Brian South said.
