Pursuit From Lafayette to Pleasant Hill Ends in Arrest
The car was stolen, according to police.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA - A 32-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after he crashed his car following a pursuit with authorities in Contra Costa County, according to the sheriff's officials.
The incident began at about 2:30 a.m. when a police officer in Lafayette attempted to stop a Honda Civic for a moving violation on eastbound state Highway 24 near Alcalanes Road, sheriff's officials said.
The driver initially yielded on the highway's shoulder but then immediately sped away, leading the officer on a pursuit.

The suspect driver then went onto northbound Interstate Highway 680, before exiting on Monument Boulevard and driving onto Contra Costa Boulevard in Pleasant Hill, according to sheriff's officials.
The Honda driver then struck another vehicle before crashing into a fence.

The suspect driver and a passenger inside both had to be extricated from the Honda by firefighters. The pair was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, sheriff's officials said.
Investigators later learned the Honda was stolen.
The driver was identified as Oakland resident Anthony Pearson, according to sheriff's officials.
Pearson was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of felony evasion and violation probation and is being held without bail, according to sheriff's officials.
