Search And Rescue Training: New Tool For Moraga-Orinda Firefighters

LAMORINDA, CA — Moraga-Orinda firefighters have a new tool at their disposal that could save valuable time when searching for a lost or injured hiker, especially in difficult terrain.

They have a drone outfitted with a camera, but also a "Care Package" payload that can be dropped to a hiker. The care package includes "a first aid kit, two way radio, and a bottle of water.

"The drone can then hover while personnel respond and communicate with the victim," firefighters report.
