Time to Sign Up with SingOut, Award-Winning Youth Theatre Program

(All rehearsals take place at the DTC Firehouse, 1948 Oak Park Blvd. in Pleasant Hill.)

MINI KIDS (Ages 4-7) No audition necessary.

Our youngest performers will sing and dance to Broadway’s favorite songs and perform in scenes with our Kids students in Disney's Cinderella (Oct. 7 – Dec. 9), 101 Dalmatians (Jan. 6 – Mar. 3), and Beauty and the Beast, Jr., an All SingOut production with students ages 4-14 (Mar. 10 – May 13). Rehearsals are on Fridays, 3:30 to 4:15 PM.

KIDS COMPETITION TEAM (Ages 8-14) Audition required

The new SingOut Kids Competition Team will compete with a twelve-minute portion of Jungle Book Kids at the Junior Theatre Festival - West in Sacramento, February 10 – 12, 2017. They will also perform the entire show on March 11, 2017.

JR. THEATRE (Middle School) Audition required

This year, JT students will present Rogers and Hammerstein’s Once Upon a Mattress and will be cast in lead roles for the end-of-season All SingOut production ofBeauty and the Beast, Jr. Students will

also compete at the Junior Theatre Festival-West in Sacramento on February 10 – 12. Prior theatre experience not required but highly recommended.

Students rehearse on Tuesdays AND Thursdays, 4pm - 6pm, Sept. 27 - May 13.

TEEN THEATRE (High School) Audition required

Teen Theatre will compete with a musical revue from Tim Rice shows The Lion King, Aida, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the Musical Theatre Competitions of America in Los Angeles. This trip includes a backstage Disneyland workshop and entry into Disneyland and California Adventure. In the spring, Teen Theatre will perform Shrek the Musical, Jr.

Students rehearse on Tuesdays AND Thursdays, 4pm - 6pm, Sept. 27 – April 22.

Musical Theatre Competitions of America Dates: February 3 - 6, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA

Additional competition/travel fees will apply

Shrek Jr Performance Dates: April 21, 7 pm and April 22, 2 pm & 7 pm at Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek.

TEEN COMPETITION TEAM (High School) Audition required

Teen Competition Team will produce a twelve-minute piece featuring selections from Into the Woods to be performed at the Musical Theatre Competitions of America in Southern CA. There, they will participate in workshops and an award ceremony at Disneyland's backstage. Every member of the Competition Team is required to compete with a solo or duet at the Festival. The trip includes entry into Disneyland and California Adventure. Prior theatre experience is not required but is strongly recommended.

Students rehearse on Mondays, 6pm – 8pm, Sept. 26 – February 6.

KIDS DANCE (Ages 7-11)

Ages 7 -11

This class is a fast-paced introduction to Musical Theatre styles of dance. Primarily focused on jazz and performance, we also start some basic tap and tumbling skills. All experience levels are welcome! No dance experience necessary! Get a great workout, learn fundamental skills, turns, leaps, tricks, and have fun!

Students rehearse Wednesdays, 3:30 - 4:15. DTC offers Kids Dance in a Fall session, a Winter session, and a Spring session.

MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE (Ages 12-18)

This class is a fast-paced dance intensive focused on developing performance skills and dance technique for Musical Theatre Style Jazz Dance. Get a great workout, learn fundamental skills, turns, leaps, tricks, dance presentation and some exciting choreography. All experience levels are welcome! No dance experience necessary!

The Fall session is a 10-week class that builds skills, technique and introduces tumbling while learning fun choreography from musical theatre. The Spring session is a 14-week course that focuses on performance skills and culminates in a performance as featured dancers in our May production of Beauty and The Beast Jr!
