Virtual Walk Planned To Fight Melanoma

It will be held on Sept. 12. Here's how to get involved.

LAMORINDA, CA — Lafayette resident Alicia Rowell is spreading the word about AIM at Melanoma, a nonprofit organization that's fighting the deadliest form of skin cancer, and about an upcoming virtual fundraising walk.

According to AIM at Melanoma, one person dies nearly every hour in the U.S. from the disease.

The global foundation is dedicated to finding more effective treatments and ultimately the cure for melanoma, while improving the lives of those it affects. Specifically, AIM manages and funds global, collaborative, high-impact research initiatives. It also provides support for patients, family members, and caregivers.

The 2020 Virtual Steps Against Melanoma walk in the Bay Area will be held on Sept. 12. Each participant will complete the walk at their own pace in a place that is comfortable for them. AIM hopes to raise $8,000 through the Bay Area Steps Against Melanoma Walk. Susan Kibre, a local melanoma warrior, is being recognized as their Honoree.
