6 Votes Still Separate Candidates In Corte Madera Council Race

The county's elections department has until July 5 to certify and report final results to the Secretary of State.

CORTE MADERA, CA – Election results in three close Marin County races did not change with Friday afternoon's 5 p.m. update.

Marin County Supervisor Judy Arnold has retained her Fifth District seat with 51.79 percent of the vote. She needed 50 percent plus one vote to avoid a runoff in November with Toni Shroyer who has 30 percent.
Arnold leads Shroyer by 566 votes.

Deputy District Attorney Lori Frugoli still faces a November runoff election in the contest for Marin County District Attorney with former federal attorney Anna Pletcher. Frugoli has 49.29 percent of the vote but
needs 50 percent plus one vote to avoid a runoff.

Pletcher has 30.09 percent as of late this afternoon, and Frugoli leads Pletcher by 12,695 votes.

In the Corte Madera Town Council election, Eli Beckman and Bob Ravasio were reelected to two of the three seats and David Kunhardt was ahead of Valeria Sasser this afternoon by six votes, 1,150-1,144, in the contest
for the third available seat.

The results will be updated by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts said about 5,000 vote-by-mail ballots and 3,500 provisional ballots still have to be counted after today's update. Elections staff will work Saturday preparing vote-by-mail ballots for
counting, Roberts said.

Verifying provisional ballots for the close races will start this week, and it is the most time-intensive part of an election, Roberts said.

Signatures must be checked against records to ensure voters are registered and have not inadvertently voted twice, Roberts said.

The county's elections department has until July 5 to certify and report final results to the Secretary of State.

The Board of Supervisors will formally ratify the results on July 17.
