Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the appointment of James T. Chou to a judgeship in the Marin County Superior Court. Chou, 47, of Corte Madera, has been an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of California since 2002. He served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Washington from 1999 to 2002 and an assistant district attorney for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office from 1991 to 1999. Chou was an associate attorney for Littler, Mendelson, Fastiff and Tichy from 1989 to 1991. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Chou fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John A. Sutro.
