Central Marin Police Authority to Hold First-Ever Citizens Academy

The academy is free and open to adults age 18 and over who live or work in Larkspur, Corte Madera, or San Anselmo.

MARIN COUNTY, CA -- The Central Marin Police Authority is presenting its first-ever Citizen Police Academy, with classes to begin in February.

The academy, which is free and open to adults age 18 and over who live or work in Larkspur, Corte Madera, or San Anselmo, offers community members an inside look at law enforcement and the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their police department.

The Citizen Police Academy is scheduled to begin Thursday, Feb. 9 and meet once a week for eight consecutive weeks, ending on March 30. Classes are to be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The course is designed to provide an overview of the agency’s function and operational procedures. In the weekly presentations by department personnel, students are introduced to a wide range of topics and learn about different areas of police work, such as CSI, Detectives, Special Response Team, DUI investigation, and more.
