CORTE MADERA, CA – Three men wearing hoodies and surgical masks attempted to rob a jewelry store in The Village at Corte Madera early Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.
The suspects, one armed with a handgun, went into Julianna's Fine Jewelry at 1632 Redwood Highway in the shopping center around 12:30 p.m., Central Marin Police Authority spokeswoman Margo Rohrbacher said.
The suspects ordered six people in the store on the ground and smashed an expensive display case, Rohrbacher said.

The suspects fled the store and ran through the west side of the shopping center's main court, then jumped a fence to U.S. Highway 101. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
The suspects fled in a small silver sedan that was waiting for them on the shoulder of the highway, Rohrbacher said.

Marin County law enforcement activated a roadblock plan but the suspects' car was not found, Rohrbacher said.
Some callers to the Marin County Sheriff's Communication Center reported hearing gunshots in the store, but the sound was actually the display case glass breaking, Rohrbacher said.
There is no known loss of merchandise at this time, Rohrbacher said.
