CORTE MADERA, CA – A man, who reportedly was known by local law enforcement to be on probation, was arrested last week in Corte Madera for a warrant and for alleged possession of methamphetamine and equipment used in the production of fraudulent identification and credit cards, according to authorities.

Marin County Sheriff's detectives near Town Center Corte Madera on April 18 spotted Kevin Duane Johansen entering a business – a person with whom detectives "were familiar ... because he was on Marin County probation," the Marin County Sheriff's Office said.

After running a records check, deputies learned Johansen had an outstanding $100,000 warrant from San Francisco for being in possession of a firearm and also was listed on probation out of San Francisco, the agency said. Johansen was taken into custody after leaving the Corte Madera establishment and allegedly was found to be carrying "several credit cards, many appearing to be fake and/or counterfeit," deputies said.

Recovered during a subsequent probation search of his vehicle were such items as an embossing machine, a secure identification-card printer, card-encoding devices and blank cards, "all of which are used to manufacture counterfeit credit cards, as well as identification cards," according to authorities.

Deputies also found in the man's belongings a room key from a Tiburon hotel – where, the suspect reportedly acknowledged to deputies, he recently checked into a room. Recovered during a follow-up search of Johansen’s hotel lodgings were approximately one-half ounce of suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale with methamphetamine residue on it, deputies said.
