Aminta Arrington at Book Passage

Please join us for a reading and book-signing with Aminta Arrington, author of Home Is a Roof over a Pig.

All-American Aminta Arrington uprooted her army husband and three young children from suburban Georgia to a small town in China with the hopes of understanding the country, its long civilization, ancient philosophy, and complex language. She is also determined that her adopted daughter Grace, born in China, regain some of the culture she lost when they brought her to America as a baby. As they slowly settle in, the family is bewildered by the seemingly endless cultural differences they face, from Aminta's teaching at the University, to the challenges her creative, independent (and loud) American children face in their classrooms. With courage and an acute cultural perspective, Aminta recounts this transformative quest with freshness and an original, accessible point of view on the new China.
