Please join us for a fascinating presentation on Western Turkey by historian, photographer and Turkish tour company owner, Mehlika Seval. She’ll talk about everything from the classic sights to see in Istanbul, what attire should visiting women really wear, why do the dervishes whirl, the coolest way to explore ancient Ephesus, the role of women in this moderate Muslim country, what is that spice they put on their sesame bread, and how to charter a gulet to explore the hidden inlets of the Bodrum-Antalya coast. Meli will share timely Turkish travel updates about her favorite riverfront restaurants, hot air balloon rides over the moonscape of Cappadocia, top shopping secrets, authentic textile weavers, and how best to explore biblical sites in the footsteps of St. Paul. Meli owns an organic farm outside of Kusadasi that welcomes guests for cooking classes and sharing meals on her scenic terrace. This is the 12th talk in the Larkspur Library’s Armchair Lecture Series coordinated by Dimensions in Travel. It is a lively, friendly opportunity to learn more about Turkey and have your questions answered about Turkey. Email the library (library@larkspurcityhall.org) with any questions that Meli can answer for you that night.
