Hikers Rescued After Sliding Down Muir Beach Trail

It was a CHP helicopter crew to the rescue! SEE VIDEO.

MUIR BEACH, CA – Two hikers stranded on a cliff near Muir Beach in Marin County were rescued Thursday by a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew, according to authorities.

Alerted at 3 p.m., the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations crew responded and located the pair on the shoreline south of Muir Beach.

The individuals had slipped down a small embankment and were unable to get back to the trail which was 100 feet overhead, officials said.

The CHP's H30 chopper successfully extricated the two victims and transported them to the Muir Beach parking lot where they were evaluated by Southern Marin Fire paramedics. No injuries were reported, the department said.

Responding agencies included the Southern Marin Fire Department, Marin County Fire Department, Mill Valley Fire Department, National Park Service and CHP - Golden Gate Division Air Operations.

"We want to remind the public that the landscape is ever changing and the ground could be unstable," the CHP added. "Avoid edges if at all possible."
