Road crews will shut down one lane of a Highway 101 offramp July 28 through Aug. 1 in connection with the Central Marin Ferry Connection Multiuse Pathway Project, another project designed to enhance nonmotorized transportation in Marin County.
The right turn lane from the northbound offramp in Larkspur, located just off East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, is to be redirected between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, July 28, through Thursday, July 31 plus 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, according to the Marin County Department of Public Works (DPW).
Construction is underway on a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge extending the Cal Park Hill Multi-Use Pathway to the south by constructing an elevated crossing over Sir Francis Drake Boulevard with an access ramp leading down to an existing multi-use pathway adjacent to the roadway. The new path, located just west of the Larkspur Ferry Terminal, is intended to further promote nonmotorized commute alternatives and enhance recreational travel while providing safe, direct and convenient pedestrian/bicycle access between local transit facilities, schools, business centers and residential communities. The pathway also provides a connection to the future station for the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit system.

Lane closures will be intermittent throughout the project, which is scheduled for completion in July 2015. Phases of the work include removal of a portion of the existing trestle, drilling of foundation piers, pouring concrete and constructing the elevated walkway. The roadway will be closed to all traffic during the night when the main portion of the bridge over Drake Boulevard is erected.

From July 28 through Aug. 1, traffic heading east on Drake Boulevard toward Highway 580 will be affected, and offramp traffic could be subject to backups. The Sir Francis Drake Boulevard curb lane (on the right) will be closed, leaving just one eastbound lane.
