Larkspur Man Fatally Injured in Golden Gate Bridge Motorcycle Crash

BREAKING: Authorities have yet to determine the official cause and manner of the death.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist who died in a crash Friday on the Golden Gate Bridge was identified this weekend as a Larkspur resident.

Aamir Ahmad Khan, 39, was pronounced deceased at 6:18 p.m. Friday after he was thrown from his motorcycle as it collided with the guardrail on the east side of the span, the Marin County Sheriff's Coroner Division stated in a report.

Authorities including the California Highway Patrol say the fatal crash was reported at 5:55 p.m. after witnesses saw a motorcyclist traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes of the bridge, just south of the Vista Point exit.

It is believed that Kahn lost control of the motorcycle and became separated from the bike upon colliding with the guardrail that separates the roadway from the sidewalk.

"There was no indication he was struck by any oncoming traffic," said Darrell Harris, chief deputy coroner. "Motorists stopped and attempted to initiate first aid until paramedics arrived on scene."

Paramedics with the Southern Marin Fire District arrived and rendered medical aid to no avail, according to the report.

The Coroner's Division is still investigating the official cause and manner of Kahn's death.

"Results of the examination will be pended for toxicology testing and the conclusion of the CHP investigation," said Darrell Harris, chief deputy coroner.

The fatality prompted the closure of northbound lanes of the bridge Friday evening. All lanes were eventually reopened by 7:42 p.m., according to the CHP.
