Marin County Completes $3.4M Library Improvement Project
Renovations at 10 branches included updated study areas, furnishings and accessibility improvements.
CORTE MADERA, CA — Marin County has completed a $3.4 million renovation project across 10 public library branches, including locations in Corte Madera and Fairfax.
The yearlong Library Refresh Project brought updated interiors, study spaces and other improvements to the county's library system, according to a Thursday county announcement.
Officials marked the project's completion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday at the Marin County Civic Center. Corte Madera Library was the final branch to reopen following renovations in September.

Funded through voter-approved Measure B, the work began in September 2025 and continued through September 2026.
Improvements varied by location, including new shelving, service desks, seating, workstations, carpeting and interior paint. Some branches also received redesigned layouts, updated children's and teen areas, outdoor furniture and better access to natural light.

“Each branch serves a distinct community, and these improvements gave us an opportunity to think carefully about how our spaces can be more welcoming, comfortable and accessible,” County Library Services Director Lana Adlawan said in the announcement.
The county also renovated libraries in Inverness, Stinson Beach, Point Reyes Station, Marin City, Bolinas, South Novato, Novato and at the Civic Center, along with the Fairfax branch.
Officials phased the work to limit closures while contractors completed improvements across the system.
A separate accessibility project in the California Room at the Civic Center Library brought the total to 11 individual projects.
Marin County Public Works managed the renovations, with Noll & Tam Architects providing design services.
