Police Officer Assaulted In Corte Madera; 2 Arrested On Multiple Charges

Among other charges, Lyserick Morgan, 29, and Desean Watson, 28, were arrested on suspicion of identity theft, burglary and conspiracy.

CORTE MADERA, CA – Police in Corte Madera on Thursday arrested two men in connection with several crimes including identity theft and obstructing a peace officer.

Lyserick Morgan, 29, of Antioch, and Desean Watson, 28 of Oakland, were arrested on suspicion of identity theft, commercial burglary, conspiracy and obstructing or resisting a peace officer, according to the Central Marin Police Authority, which serves Corte Madera, Larkspur, San Anselmo and portions of Greenbrae.

Officers responded at 12:50 p.m. to the Nordtrom store at the Village at Corte Madera at 1870 Redwood Highway on a report security staff at the store were monitoring a fraudulent transaction.

Two officers arrived and attempted to contact the two suspects, but the men attempted to flee the scene, and a foot pursuit ensued, police said.

One suspect was caught without incident, but the second suspect physically resisted an officer and a security guard, police said.

Police said the suspect struck an officer in the face and continued to flee on foot.

The second suspect was later apprehended without incident with help from other law enforcement agencies.

The officer who was struck in the face suffered facial injuries, was treated at a local hospital and then released.
