Stockton Man Arrested In Corte Madera Burglary
Duante M. Hayes, 24, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and providing false identification.

CORTE MADERA, CA -- A Stockton man was arrested Thursday in connection with a residential burglary in Corte Madera. Duante M. Hayes, 24, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and providing false identification, police said.
At the time of his arrest, Hayes also had an outstanding warrant out of Stockton for assault.
Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, Central Marin police received several reports about a suspicious person knocking on doors and going through backyards on Balclutha and Westward drives.

As officers were responding, a woman reported she saw a man inside her neighbor's home in the 100 block of Westward Drive.
Responding officers arrived at the home and found a rear sliding glass door shattered and the residence in disarray, police said.

Police searched the home and then the backyard and located Hayes hiding in a tree house and pretending to be asleep.
A witness identified Hayes as the man seen in the house, and Hayes was in possession of a prescription pill bottle belonging to the resident, police said.
During his arrest, Hayes initially provided police with a false name.
