Suspected Auto Burglars Nabbed at Larkspur Shopping Center

Police say it was when they spotted a generic paper plate covering a registered license plate that they became suspicious.

Three men were arrested in Marin County Friday night after officers found evidence of stolen property during a traffic stop.

Police said at 8:36 p.m. officers stopped a red Hyundai Elantra in the parking lot of the Marin County Mart shopping center located at 2257 Larkspur Landing Circle after officers found a generic paper dealer license plate cover was placed on top of a registered license plate.

According to police, three subjects inside the vehicle were detained during a routine records check and it was determined the driver, 21-year-old Keonte Woods of Vallejo, to be on probation.

During a routine probation check of the vehicle, officers found a Nordstrom's bag with receipts and broken glass in it. Police said due to the high occurrence of auto burglaries in the area, coupled with the broken glass in the bag additional officers responded to the area to check for unreported auto burglaries.

Prior to arriving, Central Marin Police Authority received a call from a victim at Nordstrom's at 1970 Redwood Highway in Corte Madera reporting a window smashed auto burglary and a bad with clothing items stolen.

Police said Woods along with, Daemonjae Wise, 21, of Vallejo and Isaiah McClain, 23, of Richmond were placed under arrest on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of stolen property.
