Tiburon Launches Its First Ever 'Tiburon Art Walk'

Tiburon celebrates the arts with a new public art phenomenon: The Tiburon Art Walk. Bringing together artists and community, the Art Walk is a free, self guided, public art exhibition in one of the world’s most picturesque locations. Combining its stunning surroundings with the finest local, national and International artists, the Tiburon Art Walk is a great way to explore and appreciate the beauty of art, Tiburon and its ever evolving downtown.

The inaugural Tiburon Art Walk takes place from October 16 through November 16, 2014 with paintings from over 30 critically acclaimed artists on display in shops, restaurants and other locations throughout Tiburon. Each of the works has been thoughtfully paired with a Tiburon business, resulting in great excitement and collaboration among the artists and their hosts, with some artists even creating a new work specifically for their location. The Art Walk includes Art by the Bay, an outdoor sculpture exhibition that will adorn the Tiburon landscape from Blackie’s Pasture to Shoreline Park.

Putting a new spin on an art walk, most of the works are displayed in the windows of their host location, which means the Art Walk may be enjoyed at any time of the day or night. The Art Walk is presented by the Tiburon Chamber of Commerce. Says Chamber Board President and co-owner of Sam’s Anchor Cafe, Steve Sears:

“We wanted to introduce something fresh and different, something that allows the public to interact with the art in a very personal way, while showcasing the natural beauty of Tiburon and our amazing downtown shops and restaurants. In a way, Tiburon itself is part of the exhibition.“

The Tiburon Art Walk kicks off with an Opening Night Launch Party on Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm. This special evening gives the public the opportunity to mingle with the artists as the “progressive” party takes over downtown Tiburon with most venues hosting a reception for their featured artist.
