Town Center Corte Madera has announced several exciting new plans for the Center, designed to enhance the quality of time spent shopping and dining at the Center’s popular businesses.
The improvements proposed to the Corte Madera Planning Department include a newly designed water feature with the elephant fountain in front of Barnes & Noble. The new water fountain re-uses the already existing elephant statue located within the center, and will feature interactive, intermittent water spouts, and a beautiful brightly colored pedestal with the Town Center elephant on top.

The spacious new interactive play area will add to the appealing character of Town Center as a place where children and families can play, make new friends, and share stories (Rendering attached.) Town Center will also host an open house in Retail Space 107 adjacent to the clock tower on Wednesday, October 29 from 4-6 pm to answer questions and discuss the plans with the community. www.shoptowncenter.com
Additional changes to the Center include opening up the central court area by moving the signature clock tower, resulting in better flow of traffic on “Main Street” and creating more room for outdoor seating and gathering spots for family and friends. The clock tower will move approximately 25 feet north and will open up the center courtyard as well as reveal beautiful lush green gardens on the Center’s roof, all the while retaining the Center’s unique charm and serenity.

“We are very excited about these changes,” said Stan Hoffman, Town Center’s General Manager. “We chose this location for the new children’s play area because it offers more space for families and kids to play and enjoy the outdoors. Overall, the goal with these improvements is to make the experience of shopping and dining at the center an enjoyable one for the whole family.”
The Center has already begun work on significant improvements to the restrooms that were originally built in 1986. The women’s restroom will be greatly enlarged, to create a comfortable experience and will feature all-new architectural finishes that tie back to the Center’s aesthetics. The men’s room will be completely new and the center will now offer a convenient family restroom for parents with small children.
Town Center is known for its charm and attractiveness through both its architecture and its emphasis on natural elements including water treatments, plants and landscaping. Part of the center’s new makeover will include the planting of over 174 trees throughout the property adding to the beauty of the outdoor areas. A majority of the center’s trees are flowering pear trees that have unfortunately become infected and are declining. These trees at Town Center will be replaced with several different varieties of healthy robust new trees.
“All the changes we are currently making to the center are being made because of Town Center’s commitment to enhancing the quality of shopping and dining and to improve the center’s visual appearance,” said Stan Hoffman. “We also intend to manage construction in such a way that does not significantly interfere with our patrons’ shopping and dining needs.”
