To finalize the Paradise Drive corridor improvements between San Clemente Drive and Seawolf Passage/El Camino, the road is being paved this week. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding thus far this summer as construction has progressed to widen the northern sidewalk to 8 feet as part of a Safe Routes to Schools grant and to rehabilitate this section of deteriorated roadway.

Earlier this week, the contractor had to prepare the roadway by grinding and leveling the roadway surface, which is a critical and very involved operation and thus led to traffic delays. Starting tomorrow (on Wednesday 9/15), the construction crews will defer their work in the roadway until 8:30am to allow for the morning commute to occur, however, be aware that this will push the construction slightly later into the evening until approximately 6pm as a result of the shift in schedule. Therefore, we request that you please plan your travel accordingly and use alternate routes where possible to reduce the overall volume of traffic through the work zone.

The paving on this stretch of roadway is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day this Friday (9/17) barring any major unexpected impacts. Although there will still be some remaining minor work items on this portion of roadway next week, the overall traffic patterns will be significantly improved and overall delays will be less significant.  We look forward to completing our resurfacing project and reopening our newly paved roads in the near future.
