Travis AFB Team Responds To Corte Madera Home Where Grenade Found

The WWII device was found in a garage.

CORTE MADERA, CA -- An Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team from Travis Air Force Base responded to a home in Corte Madera where a woman found what appears to be a World War II hand grenade while cleaning her garage Tuesday afternoon.

Residences surrounding the home in the 100 block of Buena Vista Avenue were evacuated as a precaution, Central Marin Police Authority Lt. Hamid Khalili said.

Central Marin police used a robot to take a picture of the grenade and sent it to the University of California at Berkeley bomb squad. The bomb squad then consulted with Travis Air Force Base personnel who determined it was military ordnance, Khalili said.
