Volunteers Sought to Help With Green Gulch Creek Habitat Restoration
Habitat restoration planned on Green Gulch Creek near Muir Beach on Dec. 20.

The following is a news release from the Marin Municipal Water District:
Volunteers are needed for a habitat restoration on Green Gulch Creek near Muir Beach on Saturday, December 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will help plant native plants along a newly constructed streambed to stabilize the bank and create a healthy stream ecosystem for fish and other wildlife. This workday complements larger restoration efforts by Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (GGNPC) at Muir Beach. The goal is to restore farmland to natural habitat to help endangered salmon and trout.
Members of the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Program with help from Green Gulch Farm, Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD), and GGNPC will lead the event. It is open to volunteers of all ages and abilities. Parking is permitted in the Muir Beach parking lot but space may be limited. Carpooling is recommended from the west parking lot of Tamalpais High School on Almonte Boulevard in Mill Valley at 8:30 a.m. Lunch, refreshments, tools, and safety equipment will be provided, but volunteers are advised to bring water and appropriate attire for landscaping activity, including close-toed shoes, extra layers, and rain gear.
