Hello dog lovers. And lovers of all that is right in the world.
Out there in Lemon Grove Land, there is a poor habit of some of our canine walking friends.
Have you noticed some folks out there in the park or on the street allowing their dogs to run free? Now, this would be fine normally - you know I love freedom as much as the next libertarian. It's just that a dog that is free can also take part in some pretty nasty behaviors.
Such as: Completely Attacking Your Dog!
It's happened a couple times to my wife's pooch Hennessy, and it's a horrible experience. Watching on as your dog is physically attacked by another dog, leaving you feeling helpless, endangered and fearful for the health of your pet. (Thank goodness Hennessy is one tough bitch.)
When one dog is on a leash and another is off a leash, this creates some sort of tension or agitation where the two do not play nice. Not sure of the reason for the phenomenon, but I've seen it happen. That's why dogs at a dog park, running free and wild, do not have the problems or fights that come about when one of the dogs is leashed.
For those dog owners irresponsible enough to allow their dogs off leash in public, there should be some sort of consequence? Some ideas:
- One night in the dog house.
- No treats after dinner.
- Leashed up themselves!!!
Stop it Mr. and Mrs. Leash-less Dog Owner. It is irresponsible and dangerous to continue this unconscious behavior. Get that leash on your dog for the well-being of all concerned - you, your dog, other owners, other dogs, and lovers of all that is right in the world.
