DUI Arrests Down in County During Labor Day Weekend
California Highway Patrol officers arrested 60 suspected drunken drivers in San Diego County throughout the holiday weekend compared to 84 DUI arrests during the same period in 2011.

Drunken driving arrests were down in San Diego County and statewide this Labor Day weekend compared with last year, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.
CHP officers arrested 60 suspected drunken drivers in San Diego County between 6:01 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday. San Diego-area officers made 84 DUI during the same period in 2011, according to the CHP.
Statewide, 1,386 suspected drunken drivers were arrested this weekend, compared to 1,399 last year.

Law enforcement agencies reported two fatalities in San Diego County and 18 statewide during the Labor Day holiday weekend. No San Diego-area fatalities were reported last year and 16 were reported statewide, the CHP stated.
Eleven of this year's statewide fatalities were vehicle occupants on freeways or on roads in unincorporated areas and six were not wearing safety belts, the CHP said. A motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet was also killed, the CHP said.
