In East County Movie Theaters: Two Tales, Inspired by Real Life

A true story can make for a compelling movie, and this weekend box offices will get a double dose of embroidered reality with two films inspired by real life.

In the heart-tugging Dolphin Tale, Harry Connick Jr. and Ashley Judd share the screen with a couple of cute kids and the even cuter sea mammal in this story about Winter, a dolphin with a disability. But Winter’s not the only one facing adversity and needing a helping hand—or tail, as is literally the bottlenose’s predicament.

Morgan Freeman and Kris Kristofferson lend sage performances to this cute, family friendly film.

Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, is looking to hit a home run with moviegoers, as well. Based on the true-life story of Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, the movie is adapted from the best-selling book by Michael Lewis, which chronicles Beane’s quest to build a winning team in a way that defied all conventional wisdom. With star power and lots of heart, this movie isn’t just for sports fans, but everyone who enjoys an underdog story. So, take me out to the ballgame!
