On February 7, 2022, at approximately 6:22 am, deputies assigned to the San Marcos Sheriff's Station Traffic Division responded to a major injury collision in the 400 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road, in the city of San Marcos. During the preliminary investigation, deputies learned a 2001 Honda Civic, driven by a 59 year-old male, entered the traffic lanes of North Twin Oaks Valley Road, and was broadsided by a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by a 32 year-old male, that was northbound on North Twin Oaks Valley Road. The collision caused the Honda Civic to collide with a late model BMW 328i, driven by a 21 year-old female. The drivers of the Toyota 4-Runner and BMW were not injured. The driver of the Honda Civic sustained major injuries and was treated by San Marcos Fire Department Personnel. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased from his injuries.
