Vote Now: City Asks You to Rate Banquet Hall Names

The second round of online voting is open through March 12. The winner gets a $50 gift certificate to Lido's.

The city asked for some help, and—boy howdy!—did you all pitch in.

The results are in from the first round of an . In just one week, the poll yielded 48 unique names from some very creative-minded folks.

Now, the public is invited to weigh in with their top three picks. And there’s a lot to consider.

Would you hold your wedding reception at the Orchard Room? How about an anniversary party at the Citrus Chateau? Or a fundraiser at The Grove?

Those are just a few of the names suggested among the four dozen that will be presented to the City Council for a final call March 20. The winner will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to Lido’s Italian Restaurant on April 3.

Several of the names offered honored Lemon Grovians both past and present, including Lois Heiserman, Roberto Alvarez and Rosemary Putnam.

Other entries just seemed to be good fun, including the Old Sour Lemon Drops Center, and the Sweet and Tart Topiary Room.

In an effort to attract revenue-producing events to Lemon Grove, the city is focusing on marketing its rental facilities. In addition to the contest to come up with a catchy name that is appealing to put on event invitations, the city hosted the in January at the venue. The event featured vendors, demonstrations, entertainment and food tastings, and raffled off a party package valued at $7,500.

Ready to vote? Each person gets one chance to select their top three choices. Voting is open through March 12.
