30-Year-Old Woman Killed In Thanksgiving Day Crash Identified
The victim was a 30-year-old, newly-married woman from Fremont who had moved to the United States to join her husband in October.
LIVERMORE, CA — Authorities have identified a woman killed in a Thanksgiving day collision in unincorporated Livermore.
The victim of the head-on collision was 30-year-old Sreeja Nagirimadugu of Fremont, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau.
Nagirimadugu was killed on Altamont Pass Road Thanksgiving afternoon when the driver of the Honda Civic she was traveling in tried to cross a solid yellow line into the westbound lane in order to pass a slower moving car ahead of them, according to CHP reports. The Civic collided with an oncoming Prius. Nagirimadugu died despite life-saving efforts, and her husband was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Prius were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, CHP said.
Nagirimadugu moved to the United States from India in October to join her husband, according to a GoFundMe page set up in her memory. Nagirmadugu and her husband Revanth were married earlier this year. She worked eight years in India before moving to the States to join him, according to the page.

Revanth, identified as the driver of the Civic, reportedly needed emergency surgeries and remains in the hospital making “slow progress.”
“Sreeja was an exemplary individual known for her hard work, responsibility, love for her family and passion to explore the world,” according to the site. “Her death is a tragic loss to her family, friends, colleagues, and anyone who has met her or known her. She has left family and friends in great sorrow.”
Her friends and family are aiming to raise $150,000 to bring her body back to India, where cremation rituals and ceremonies are scheduled to take place. As of Wednesday morning the fundraiser has raised $46,626.
