SigAlert Issued After 5-6 Vehicle Crash On 580 Traps Child: CHP
The child has been freed and the SigAlert cleared, but major delays are ongoing.
LIVERMORE, CA — A SigAlert was issued on I-580 near Vasco Road in Livermore following a major collision involving five to six vehicles, according to a California Highway Patrol report. The crash reportedly resulted in a child briefly trapped under a vehicle, and an SUV rolling over.
The CHP report indicated that the child was removed from the bottom of the vehicle. The children suffered minor injuries, not major injuries as initially reported, according to CHP Officer Tyler Hahn.
Three lanes were blocked on a portion of the eastbound 580 at 1:44 p.m. The SigAlert was canceled at 2:31 p.m. and all lanes were reopened, although online maps indicate ongoing major delays in the eastbound lane near First Street.

The collision was first reported at 1:16 p.m. Tuesday when two vehicles collided, the report indicates. By 1:22 p.m., CHP officers reported that five to six vehicles were involved in the collision.
One officer reported that a child was trapped under a vehicle, but was extricated. Two other children were reported lying on the floor, and parents were reportedly seen standing in the lane of the freeway holding a child.

At 1:30, officers reported that a gray Chevy Tahoe had rolled over on the road.
